2016 Sea Services Awards Banquet
Wednesday, May 11, 2016, marked another milestone in our Council's mission to support the men and women of the sea services. Our 2016 Sea Services Awards Banquet honored the 'best of the best' and was attended by more than 100 military and civilian supporters. Special thanks go out to our guest speaker, RDML Randy Crites, Commander, Submarine Group 10, to the large number of individual and community sponsors who made possible our expressions of thanks and appreciation to the honorees (the list of donors can be found here), to the members who attended to personally extend their congratulations, and to event chairperson Cheryl Aston for her hard work and dedication to making this, truly, our signature event of the year.

On Wednesday, May 11, 2016, the Camden – Kings Bay Navy League Council will host our Annual Sea Services Awards Banquet at the Triplex on board Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay. We will be honoring the 32 top Sailors, Coast Guardsmen and a Marine stationed at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay and at the Coast Guard’s Maritime Safety & Security Team in St Marys as the 2015 Sailors/Marine/Coast Guardsmen of the Year.
This event recognizes the honorees for their accomplishments last year, and is an opportunity for our entire community to show our respect and appreciation for their hard work, dedication and service to our nation and our community. Our special guest speaker at the Banquet will be RDML Randy Crites, Commander, Submarine Group 10. We hope you will join us at this event to thank and recognize these fine military men and women for their outstanding service.
As we do every year, we are asking our members to sponsor a command for the evening. Sponsors will present honorees with gifts and be included in a group photo with their honoree and RDML Crites during the presentations. Sponsors will be seated with their honoree and command representatives for the evening, and will be listed in the program. Even if you can't attend the Banquet, we encourage and would welcome your support for either a deployed or transferred Sailor of the Year. Sponsorship of a Submarine crew (Blue or Gold) and of major commands on the Subase and the Coast Guard's Maritime Safety & Security Team Kings Bay in St. Marys is on a "first come, first assigned" basis.
The cost of a Command Sponsorship is $50.00. Please contact Cheryl Aston at 882-2967 to inquire about commands available for sponsorship. Sponsorship is fully tax deductible.
Sponsoring a command isn't the only way to support this event and help recognize these outstanding young men and women. We also ask the community for their help to fill the gift bags given to each honoree. In addition to cash donations, if you own a business, please consider donating gift certificates, items from your business and other in-kind contributions of goods and services for the honorees (we would need 32 items). All donations of cash go directly to purchasing plaques, gifts and other recognition to the honorees and their spouses. All donations are 100% tax deductible. Donors will be recognized in the commemorative program and at the Banquet at the following levels:
ADMIRAL - $1,000 and above
CAPTAIN - $500 - $999
MASTER CHIEF - $250 - $499
CHIEF - $101 - $249
CREW - $100 and below
ADMIRAL, CAPTAIN and MASTER CHIEF donors receive complimentary tickets to the Banquet.
To make a donation, please complete the Donor Form and return it no later than April 22, 2016, so we have time to include you in the printed Program.
