2018 Coastal Georgia Honor Flight
The Coastal Georgia Honor Flight exists to honor our community's veterans for all of their sacrifices. Their mission is to fly herores via private, chartered airliner from Coastal Georgia (Camden, Glynn, McIntosh counties and others as space is available) to Washington, D.C. so that they may reflect at their national memorials.
Priority is given to World War II veterans, then Korean and Vietnam War survivors. Veterans who are terminally ill, from any conflict, get top priority. Our heroes travel absolutely free.
Sites visited during the one day trip include the World War II, Korean and Vietnam Memorials, the Lincoln Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, including the famous Changing of the Guard Ceremony, and the Marine Corps (Iwo Jima), Air Force and Navy Memorials as time permits.
Coastal Georgia Honor Flight is an affiliate of the national Honor Flight Network, which began in 2005, in Springfield, Ohio. There are now about 130 "hubs," in 44 states from which flights originate around the country. National Honor Flight Network provides local hubs, with technical and travel support and helps arrange activities in Washington D.C.
The 2018 Coastal Georgia Honor Flight will be held on May 5th this year. Our Council is supporting this year's flight with a monetary contribution, and providing "Guardians" to escort the veterans. We encourage all members to learn about this special program and give it as much support as you can.
