Camden - Kings Bay Council Hosts Inaugural Wreath Laying Ceremony at Kingsland Veterans Memorial Park
On Saturday, December 13, 2014, members of the Council and the community gathered at the Kingsland Veterans Memorial Park for the first of what will become an annual wreath laying ceremony held in conjunction with the national Wreaths Across America program.
The mission of Wreaths Across America - Remember, Honor, Teach - is carried out in part by coordinating wreath laying ceremonies each year on a Saturday in December at Arlington National Cemetery, at veterans' cemeteries and at other locations in all 50 states and beyond to spread the message about the importance of remembering our fallen heroes, honoring those who serve, and teaching our children about the sacrifices made by veterans and their families to preserve our freedoms.
Members of the Camden - Kings Bay Navy League Council also laid a wreath at the Lake City (FL) Veterans Administration Medical Center during our visit to the facility on December 10th to deliver personal care and entertainment items and to spend time visiting with hospitalized veterans.
Honoring the service of America's Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Army, and Air Force veterans is a keystone program of the Council. We hope to see a large crowd at next year's ceremony.
