Camden - Kings Bay Council

December 12th Wreaths Across America Wreath Laying

For the second year in a row, our Council participated in the Wreaths Across America program by placing wreaths at Veterans Memorial Park in Kingsland, at the Jim Steele resting bench at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys and at the St. Marys Submarine Museum.

Chaplain LTJG Damian Velarde, Staff Chaplain at NSB Kings Bay, led participants in a prayer at each site, and shared his thoughts on the sacrifices of past, current and future members of the armed forces.

Immediate Past Council President Dave Burch explained the Wreaths Across America program at the Oak Grove Cemetery ceremony, and remembered good friend Jim Steele as one of the many people in and out of uniform who do the right thing each and every day.

The Kings Bay Division Sea Cadets provided an honor guard at each ceremony.
