December 7th Visit to Lake City VA Medical Center
Members of our Council will travel to the Lake City (FL) Veterans Administration Medical Center

deliver much needed supplies to the vets.

- Sets of sweat pants/shirtsA charcoal grill
- Adaptive Sports Equipment (Pickle Ball, Bocci Ball, Shuffle Board sticks & pucks, tennis balls)
- Headphones (not earbuds) that go on the outside of the ear
- Universal TV Remotes (as they often come up missing)
- Monetary donations that can be used in the Medical Center Christmas accoun
Any of these items you can contribute will be much appreciated. Monetary contributions will be used to purchase these and other items to make our hospitalized veterans more comfortable, especially during the holiday season.
Our trip on December 7th is a "perfect storm" of reasons to support our visit with donations and to sign up to join us for the visit.
- December 7th, of course, is
the anniversary of the
attack on Pearl Harborwhere so many gave their lives. Wouldn't you like to visit with a Navy veteran who was at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941? You may find them at the Lake City VAMC.December 7, 2018 , is also
"Georgia Day"at the Lake City VAMC; In addition to our Council, representatives will be present from
NSB Kings Bay and various cities and communities in Georgia
including Hahira, Moultrie, Valdosta, and surrounding areas.
Caravan" will arrive at the Medical Center at
approximately 0930. We will come in like a parade with about 20 vehicles
(some with lights and sirens) and 30 motorcycles. We will temporarily
park right in front of the Medical Center. The Kings Bay contingent will arrive
in chartered buses at the same time.
As if this isn't enough, there will be a group of JROTC cadets out front as well. In all, we expect close to 200 people at this event.
We will gather at the flag pole out front with Veterans from the facility and do a Pearl Harbor Day remembrance (led by Chaplains from Kings Bay). After the service we will all get back into vehicles and pull up alongside the canteen to unload donations of supplies. The donations will all go into the auditorium, where the cadets will sort and count . Visitors will be broken down into groups, and go throughout the medical center thanking Veterans for their service and wishing them Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays (we have Jewish veterans as well).
If you want to join us on the "Georgia Caravan," or wish to have your donation picked up, please contact event co-chairmen Stevie Obee (Cumberland Harbor), Cheryl Aston (Fiddlers Cove) or Jeannie Straight (Osprey Cove). Or, you could drop off your contribution at our December 2nd Toys for Tots Luncheon.
On December 7th, travelers to the Lake City VAMC will meet at Wendy's off Exit 1 of I 95, at 7:00 a.m.to head down to the Med Center. Please contact Stevie Obee to sign up for the trip. All are welcome!
