Camden - Kings Bay Council

July 15th Lake City (FL) VA Medical Center Visit

Five Camden - Kings Bay Council members, and a representative of our adopted unit US Coast Guard Maritime Safety & Security Team, visited the Lake City, FL, VA Medical Center on Wednesday, July 15, 2015.

Navy League members Jeanne Straight, Cheryl Aston, Keith Post,Greg Glaz, and Stevie Obee, along with MSST SK3 Benson Ndungu, delivered 8 cases of coffee, crayons, markers, bingo daubers, bingo cards, music CDs, Wii remotes, DVDs, belts, decks of cards, books and model cars. We also left 3 cases of chips and 10 cases of soups and mac & cheese for the Hospice Family Room.

Due to the overwhelming support of our members for this project, we were also able to provide two items on the staff's 'wish list': a Karaoke machine for patient entertainment and a check in the amount of $355 toward linens and bed spreads for a new wing being opened. The total value of all cash and items donated approached $1,500.

The staff and patients were most appreciative of your donations, and all who contributed should be feeling very, very good about their generosity toward the soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen, and merchant mariners being helped at the VA Medical Center.

Our next visit to the Lake City, FL VA Medical Center will be in December of this year. The Camden – Kings Bay Navy League would like to thank everyone for the items and cash donated. Your donations made this VA Medical Center trip a great success.
