Capt. Paul L. Dinius is a native of California and graduated from Norwich University, the Military College of Vermont in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.


October 11th Hail & Farewell

Our next meeting will be held on October 11, 2018, starting at 6:00 p.m. Our Council will be hosting a "Hail & Farewell" reception at the St. Marys Submarine Museum in downtown St. Marys.


St. Marys River Sunset Cruise June 15th

Our summer social - a Sunset Cruise on the St. Marys River - will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018.

Please plan to join us for heavy hors d'oeuvres by Joy and Doug Cooper, beer, wine, bottled water, and spectacular views of Cumberland Island, Fort Clinch, Fernandina Beach, and downtown St. Marys.


An Evening with Vice Admiral Al Konetzni, Jr.

The St. Marys Submarine Museum and The Camden Partnership will present An Evening with Vice Admiral Al Konetzni, Jr., USN (Retired) on Thursday evening, March 22nd from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the St. Marys Submarine Museum. 

Admiral Konetzni is the former commander, Submarine Force United States Pacific Fleet, and Deputy Commander, Fleet Forces Command.


2018 Coastal Georgia Honor Flight

The Coastal Georgia Honor Flight exists to honor our  community's veterans for all of their sacrifices. Their mission is to fly herores via private, chartered airliner from Coastal Georgia (Camden, Glynn, McIntosh  counties and others as space is available) to Washington, D.C. so that they may reflect at their national memorials. 

Priority is given to World War II veterans, then Korean and Vietnam War survivors.


2018 Board and Officers sworn in

Following the report of the Nominating Committee, consisting of Colby Stilson, Mary Neff and Stevie Obee, at our December 3rd Toys for Tots Luncheon and Annual Meeting, the 2018 Board and Officers were sworn in by St. Marys Mayor and Navy League member John Morrissey.


2017 World War II Submarine Veterans Memorial

IWe are preparing to welcome 14 World War II Submarine Veterans, 6 World War II Submarine Veteran Widows and over 300 submariners and family members to the Kings Bay area for the Annual Submarine Veterans of World War Two Memorial Ceremony.

The Ceremony will be on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 3rd at 10:00 a.m.

Grayson Roach awarded Halsey Family Foundation 2017 Youth Scholarship

Grayson A. Roach of St. Marys, a 2017 graduate of Camden County High School, has been awarded the Camden - Kings Bay Council's Halsey Family Foundation 2017 Youth Scholarship. Grayson, shown above with Council President Sam Colville and Council Vice President for Youth Programs Barbara Johns, is the son of Kevin and Diane Roach.


2016 Camden - Kings Bay Navy League Annual Report

Each year, the Camden - Kings Bay Council prepares and submits an Annual Report to the national Navy League. The Annual Report documents the events, activities and other support provided to the sea services, the community and our youth programs during the previous year. The information in the Annual Report is used by the national organization to recognize Councils as Outstanding, Meritorious or Honorable Mention.


Preserve Coast Guard Funding

Those of you who have provided your email address to national Navy League received the other day a Call to Action to help preserve Coast Guard funding in the wake of the president's fiscal 2018 budget proposal which would cut more than 14% from funding for the U.S. Coast Guard.

Pancake Breakfast fundraiser; April 22nd at HWY 55

Here's one for all you early risers!

On Saturday, April 22nd, we will hold a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser at HWY 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries...AND PANCAKES!!... from 6:00 - 10:30 a.m. For $8.00, you'll get all the pancakes you can eat, sausage, juice, and coffee.

Unlike our other fundraisers, you will need to buy a ticket in advance.


April 13th Re-Adoption of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay

On ACAPT Brian Lepinepril 13th we conducted a re-adoption ceremony to reaffirm our commitment to the Officers, Crew and subordinate commands on the Base. The Camden - Kings Bay Council first adopted Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay on April 14, 2011 with CAPT John O'Neill representing the SUBASE. We re-adopted the Command on October 9, 2014, after CAPT James Jenks took command.

Access to NSB Kings Bay for Camden - Kings Bay Council Members

As reported in the December 22, 2016, edition of The Trident, we have been informed by CAPT Brian Lepine, commanding officer of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, that, for security reasons, the SUBASE will no longer extend guest status or provide NSBKB photo IDs to civilians. Members of the Camden - Kings Bay Navy League Council are among those affected by this policy action.

February 9th Dessert Auction to Benefit Youth Programs

Thirty-one enthusiastic guests attended our February 9th Dessert Auction to raise money to support our Youth Programs. Charlie Smith did an amazing comical routine as our auctioneer. He auctioned off 19 desserts and we were able to raise $1,195.00 for our Sea Cadets and other youth programs. A little down from last years auction when we had 45 guests & raised $1500.00.


2017 Halsey Family Foundation Navy League Youth Scholarship

The Camden - Kings Bay Council of the Navy League of the United States is pleased to announce its 2017 Youth Scholarship. This year's scholarship is named for Council members Jack and Sandy Halsey and The Halsey Family Foundation for their outstanding support of our Council's Youth Programs.


Annual Toys for Tots Luncheon, December 4th

Our Annual Toys for Tots Luncheon will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2016, from 1pm to 3pm in the Osprey Cove Clubhouse Dining Room in St. Marys, GA. The cost to attend the luncheon is $25.00 per person.

Our special guest speaker will be LtCol David Martinez, USMC, commanding officer of the Kings Bay Marine Corps Security Force Battalion.


Trident Refit Facility Tour, November 18th

Join us for a tour of the Trident Refit Facility (TRF) on Friday, November 18th. We will meet in the parking lot just outside the Stimpson Gate (parking lot to the left as you face the gate) at 8:30 a.m., and proceed to the TRF at 8:45 a.m.

The deadline for RSVPs is close-of-business Monday, November 14th.


The 241st Navy Tri-Base Birthday Ball will be held on October 1, 2016


Back in the days of old, when ships were made of wood, and Sailors were made of steel, Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Admiral Elmo Zumwalt authorized recognition of 13 Oct as the Navy Birthday.

Unlike other Navy celebrations, the Navy Birthday is intended to be an internal activity for members of the active forces and reserves, as well as retirees and dependents.


Last Call for July 23rd Picnic with HMS VENGEANCE and SWFLANT

Please join the Camden-Kings Bay Navy League as we host the command and crew of the HMS VENGEANCE along with the command and sailors of Strategic Weapons Facility, Atlantic (SWFLANT) and their families for a picnic/BBQ on Saturday, July 23rd. The event starts at 4:00 p.m. and will be held at the Kingsland VFW Post 8385 located at 150 Camden Woods Parkway, Kingsland, GA.


National Museum of the American Sailor

The Great Lakes Naval Museum was officially renamed the National Museum of the American Sailor during a ceremony and sign unveiling at the museum July 4. Click here to view an introductory video featuring Command Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Mike Stevens (AW/NAC).

The MCPON was joined at the ceremony by retired Rear Adm.

July 12th Lake City (FL) VA Medical Center Visit

On Tuesday, July 12th members of the Camden-Kings Bay Navy League Council traveled to the VA Medical Center in Lake City, FL, to visit and spend time with retired and hospitalized Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen, Coast Guardsmen, and Merchant Mariners.

Thanks to the generosity of many we were able to collect and deliver some much needed supplies.


St. Marys River Sunset Cruise a Great Success

The Camden - Kings Bay Navy League's June 10th St. Marys River Sunset Cruise was a perfect way to start summer. Seventy-five Navy Leaguers, guests and even two sailors from the HMS Artful, an Astute-class nuclear-powered fleet submarine of the British Royal Navy, spent two delightful hours cruising the waters around St.

Michell Wagner Awarded 2016 Youth Scholarship

Camden County High School Senior Mitchell Wagner has been awarded the $1,000 Camden-Kings Bay Navy League Council 2016 Youth Scholarship. Mitchell is the son of Kevin and Ginny Wagner. Kevin is retired Navy whose last posting was on USS Tennessee.


2016 Sea Services Awards Banquet

Wednesday, May 11, 2016, marked another milestone in our Council's mission to support the men and women of the sea services. Our 2016 Sea Services Awards Banquet honored the 'best of the best' and was attended by more than 100 military and civilian supporters.


TRIDENT Training Facility Tour

Thirty one Camden - Kings Bay and Savannah Council members joined CAPT Steven Hall, Commanding Officer, and CMDCM Matt Suzor, Command Master Chief, for an April 14th tour of TRIDENT Training Facility. The group experienced up-close demonstrations of the damage control wet trainer, the diesel lab, the torpedo lab, the ship control team trainer, and the Coast Guard simulator.


Dessert Auction Raises $1,565 for Youth Programs

Supporters of our Council's Youth Programs gathered at the St. Marys Submarine Museum on February 11, 2016, for our Annual Dessert Auction. More than 20 desserts were donated by 17 members and military supporters, and a grand total of $1,565.00 - a new record! - was collected.


December 3, 2015, DC Fly-In

On December 3rd Cheryl Aston, Shelia McNeil, Keith Post, and Dave Reilly participated in the Navy League's annual Washington D.C Fly-In, along with 75 other Navy Leaguers from across the country. The Navy Leaguers split up into small groups and briefed over 175 congressmen and senators and their staffs on the importance of the sea services in keeping the United States both secure and prosperous in the future.


December 12th Wreaths Across America Wreath Laying

For the second year in a row, our Council participated in the Wreaths Across America program by placing wreaths at Veterans Memorial Park in Kingsland, at the Jim Steele resting bench at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys and at the St. Marys Submarine Museum.


USS GEORGIA (Blue) CO to Speak at October 8th Meeting

CAPT David Adams, commanding officer of USS GEORGIA (SSGN 729) (Blue) has been invited to speak at the Council's October 8, 2015, dinner meeting to be held at The Triplex onboard Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.

CAPT Adams, who most recently served as Director, Commander's Initiative Group, U.S.


Nominating Committee Formed (Updated)

A Nominating Committee to select nominees for officer and board positions and at large trustees to serve in 2016 has been formed. The Committee consists of Immediate Past President Dave Burch, retiring Vice President - Operations Georgia Stilson and member Mary Neff.

All current Board members, with the exception of Ms. Stilson, have agreed to be re-nominated for their current position.


July 15th Lake City (FL) VA Medical Center Visit

Five Camden - Kings Bay Council members, and a representative of our adopted unit US Coast Guard Maritime Safety & Security Team, visited the Lake City, FL, VA Medical Center on Wednesday, July 15, 2015. 

Navy League members Jeanne Straight, Cheryl Aston, Keith Post,Greg Glaz, and Stevie Obee, along with MSST SK3 Benson Ndungu, delivered 8 cases of coffee, crayons, markers, bingo daubers, bingo cards, music CDs, Wii remotes, DVDs, belts, decks of cards,


St. Marys River Sunset Cruise

More than 90 members and guests boarded Calvin Lang's Cumberland Princess on June 12, 2015, for our annual St. Marys River Sunset Cruise. They were treated to heavy hors d'oeuvres, beer, wine, soft drinks, and spectacular views of Cumberland Island, Fort Clinch, Fernandina Beach, and downtown St. Marys.


2015 Sea Services Awards Banquet

The 2015 edition of the Council's Annual Sea Services Awards Banquet was held on May 14, 2015, with special guest RDML Mary M. Jackson, Commander, Navy Region Southeast. The entire Camden County Community gathered to recognize and honor 29 Sailors, Coast Guardsmen and a Marine of the Year from the commands on the Subase and in St. Marys. Coast Guard Maritime Force Protection Unit Re-Adopted; $1,055 Raised for Sea Cadets at Dessert Auction

Our February 12, 2015, event saw the re-adoption by our Council of Coast Guard Maritime Safety & Security Team Kings Bay, and a Dessert Auction which raised $1,055 to help pay for summer training sessions for our local Sea Cadets.

LCDR Eric Casper, commanding officer of MSST Kings Bay signed the Proclamation on behalf of his command. Our Council first adopted MSST Kings Bay on January 28, 2012.

Camden - Kings Bay Council Spreads Holiday Cheer at Lake City (FL) VA Medical Center

Seven members of the Camden - Kings Bay Navy League Council traveled to Lake City, FL, on December 10th to deliver a record load of donated personal care and entertainment items and spend time with hospitalized veterans.

New Subase Commanding Officer and Re-Adoption of the Subase

Our October 9, 2014, Council dinner meeting featured the new commanding officer of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay CAPT James Jenks. In addition to getting to know the new "Mayor of Boomertown," we conducted a re-adoption ceremony furthering the commitment of our Council to support the Officers, Crew and subordinate commands on the Subase first adopted by our Council on April 14, 2011.


Coast Guard Maritime Force Protection Unit Change of Command

CDR Steve Love, commanding officer, Coast Guard Maritime Force Protection Unit (MFPU), a good friend and strong supporter of the Navy League, turned over command of the MFPU to CDR Kevin Jones on Friday, June 27, 2014, at the Subase Chapel.
