Coast Guard Community Proclamation
The county of Camden and its cities, St. Marys, Kingsland and Woodbine, were officially designated a Coast Guard Community in a proclamation signed on January 23, 2014, by ADM Robert Papp, commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard. Our Council, along with The Camden Partnership and the Camden County Chamber of Commerce, was instrumental in applying for and receiving this honor. The designation, endorsed by congressional committees who have oversight over the Coast Guard and the approval by Coast Guard headquarters in Washington, D.C., was made to recognize the outstanding support Camden County provides to the Coast Guard, its personnel and their families. Camden County and its cities now join 15 other cities throughout the nation to be designated but is the first to be designated a Coast Guard Community.
