PROGRAM CHANGE: OUR NATIONAL PRESIDENT, CHRIS TOWNSEND, HAD TO CANCEL HIS PLANNED VISIT AND SPEECH, SO VADM AL KONETZNI, USN (Ret.), GRACIOUSLY AGREED TO STAND IN FOR HIM.

ABOUT THE NEW NAVY MUSEUM
The Navy has committed to creating a new flagship Navy Museum in the heart of the nation’s capital. The Navy Museum Development Foundation has been selected and endorsed by the U.S. Navy to spearhead the effort to select a site and obtain the support for this project.

Our own Vice Admiral Al Konetzni is the President of the Foundation, and has devoted much of the past two years toward this goal. With the site selected, initial planning underway and much of the initial funding raised, Admiral Konetzni can now share this story with the public, starting with our Council.

We will also welcome members of the Camden County Military Affairs Committee and hear about the exciting initiatives the Chamber has put in place to welcome newly assigned Kings Bay personnel to Camden County.

OUR SPEAKER
Admiral Konetzni served the Navy on active duty for 38 years, from his graduation from the United States Naval Academy in 1966 until his retirement as Deputy Commander, Fleet Forces Command and US Atlantic Fleet in 2004.

A career submariner, Admiral Konetzni served on SSN and SSBN boats and numerous leadership positions ashore. He commanded USS Grayling (SSN-646), Submarine Squadron Sixteen at Kings Bay, Submarine Group Seven at Yokosuka, Japan and Submarine Force Pacific, US Pacific Fleet.

He was honored with the dedication of the VADM Albert Konetzni Submarine Squadron Fifteen Headquarters Building on 19 April 2019 at Polaris Point, Guam, Marianas Islands. Among his many awards are two Navy Distinguished Service Medals and the US Coast Guard Distinguished Service medal. He is the coauthor of the book Command at Sea and author of a ten-part Leadership series published by the United States Naval Institute.
