On Thursday, May 9, 2024, the Camden-Kings Bay Navy League Council will host the Annual Sea Services Person of the Year Awards Banquet at the TRIPLEX on board Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay. We will be honoring the 32 top Sailors, Coast Guardsmen and a Marine stationed at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay and at the Coast Guard's Maritime Safety & Security Team in St Mary’s as the 2023 Sailors/Marine/Coast Guardsmen of the Year.
This event recognizes the honorees for their accomplishments last year and is an opportunity for our entire community to show our respect and appreciation for their hard work, dedication and service to our nation and our community.
We hope you will join us at this event to thank and recognize these fine young men and women for their outstanding service. The TRIPLEX doors will open at 6:00 p.m. A cash bar reception will be held from 6:00 to 6:45 p.m., followed by dinner.
The dinner menu:
Green salad w/ dressing
Choice of Roasted Chicken w/supreme sauce or Carved Beef w/Au Jus
Garlic mashed potatoes, Fresh vegetable medley
Dinner rolls w/butter
Bottle water, lemonade and sweet tea
Reservations and advanced payment are required. Tickets are $30 per person. Reservations and payments may be made through the Camden-Kings Bay web site at Kings Bay Navy League.org, Register Now or by contacting Cheryl Aston teacher1@tds.net or (912)552-4167) NO payments at the door for this event. Deadline for reservations is April 29th
As we do every year, we are asking Navy League members to consider sponsoring a Sailor, Coast Guardsman or Marine of the Year for the evening. Sponsors will sit with command leadership and the honoree at the command table, and participate in the presentation of certificates and gifts to the honoree and his/her spouse/significant other.
Sponsors will also be included in a group photo with the honoree, spouse, and command representatives. The cost of a Sponsorship is $60.00. Please contact Cheryl Aston at teacher1@tds.net to inquire about commands available for sponsorship.
Even if you are unable to attend the Banquet, we encourage and would welcome your sponsorship of a deployed Sailor of the Year who will receive their certificate and gifts when they return to Kings Bay.
Sponsoring an individual Sailor, Coast Guardsman or Marine isn't the only way to support this event. We are asking our members and the community to help fill the gift bags presented to each honoree. In addition to cash donations, if you own a business, please consider donating gift certificates, items from your business and other in-kind contributions of goods and services for the honorees (we would need 32 items). All cash donations go directly to purchasing gifts and other recognition for the honorees and their spouses.
Donors/sponsors will be recognized in the commemorative program and at the Banquet at the following levels:
ADMIRAL: $1,000 and above (includes four free tickets to the Banquet)
CAPTAIN: $500 - $999 (includes two free tickets to the Banquet)
MASTER CHIEF: $250 - $499 (includes one free ticket to the Banquet)
CHIEF: $101 - $249
CREW: $100 and below

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
If you are planning on attending this event & DO NOT have a valid military ID to gain access on Base, you must contact our VP of Membership-Vicki Nicholson @ vjnich@gmail.com to verify you are a current council member then a security Form 5512 will be sent to you to fill out & returned ASAP so a badge can be issued. Failure to follow these steps will result in no badge or Base access. **please be sure to include your social security number or the form will NOT be processed**
The deadline for making donations of cash and/or goods and services is April 25th (so we have time to include your name/company in the printed program)
The deadline for making Banquet reservations & obtaining a badge is April 29th.
